goldengate1s2.jpg When Jesus came to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, it’s thought that Jesus entered the Temple courtyard through the Eastern gate, called Golden Gate or Gate of Mercy. This gate is mentioned in Ez 44:“The prince will enter through this gate and he will eat bread before the Lord.” This is the origin of the Judeo-Christian belief that the Messiah will enter through the eastern gate. That's why Jews were calling Him a King. They believed He will bring them freedom, they believed He might of been the long awaited Messiah.

The Muslim conquerors of Jerusalem (the Ottoman Turks led by Suleiman) sealed this gate in the 1500's, to prevent Christ's return.

In Arabic, this gate is called Bab el Rahmeh, the Gate of Eternal Life, it faces Mount of Olive.

Ez 44:1: Then He brought me back the way of the Gate of the outward sancturay which looks toward the East; and it was shut.

Zech14:4: And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the East...

The Eastern gate is presently considered by the Arabs to be their exclusive property. It is sealed up and blocked off.

That makes me think.
